While following Pergmon Museum signs, we came across a building with the sign “Pergamon Das Panorama”, which was not the Pergamon Museum. When we followed the Pergamon Museum sign, we realized that the Pergamon Museum and James-Simon-Galerie were connected, and we could have used James-Simon-Galerie entrance to come to this ticket counter area which would have been easier to find. The heart of the museum, the Hall of the Pergamon Altar located in the central structure of the building, has been closed to the public since fall 2014.
